Low estrogen level in young women can be caused by:
- Genetical diseases such as the Turner syndrome (female disease that a variety of medical and developmental problems, including short height, failure of the ovaries to develop and heart defects).
- Chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
- Thyroid disorders.
- Insufficient body fat (sometimes in athletes).
- Delayed development and lack of menstruation.
Symptoms of low estrogen levels in young women:
- Dry skin.
- Rapid heartbeat.
- Weight gain.
- Low back pain.
- Headaches.
- Depression.
- Panic attacks.
- Low self-esteem.
- Mood swings.
- Memory loss.
- Difficult concentration.
- Because of the drop of estrogen before the menstruation, women can get premenstrual headaches.
- In men:
- Excess belly fat.
- Low sex drive.
