Osteopathy: sleep and brain health

Sleep and brain health

CSF pulses during deep sleep, and these motions are closely tied with brain wave activity and blood flow.

Large oscillations of CSF inflow to the brain appeared about every 20 seconds.

CSF flow and slow wave activity both help flush toxic, memory-impairing proteins from the brain.

This means that sleep is of the outmost importance for brain health. How deeper the sleep the better.

Also, Alzheimer disease and dementia can be eventually predicted by sleep deprivation and quality of sleep.
