  • Healthy lifestyle:
    • Don't smoke. Cigarettesmoke suppresses the immune system leaving smokers to heal more slowly than non-smokers.
    • Exercise regularly (stay active).
    • Maintain ahealthy weight (max 26 BMI).
    • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
    • Get adequate sleep.
    • Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.
    • Use antioxidant nutrients such as vitamin A, C and E. They protect against oxidative damage.
    • Probiotics can help.
    • Vit D is important.
