Brain Fog, a Cognitive Dysfunction

Brain fog

is a symptom not a disease. It’s a type of cognitive dysfunction involving:

  • Difficult concentration.
  • The inability to focus.
  • Memory problems.
  • Lack of mental clarity.
  • Mental fatigue.

Brain fog can interfere with work or school.

Possible causes:

  • Stress.
  • Bad or lack of sleep.
  • Hormonal changes (such as increased progesterone or estrogen levels as in pregnancy or a drop in estrogen such as during menopause).
  • Vit B12 deficiency.
  • Food allergies.
  • Some medication (chemo brain).
  • Medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, dehydration, hypothyroidism, anemia, depression, …

Treatment: treat the cause, not the symptom!
